Tonto Dikeh’s Biography: Her Musical Career, Scandals And Marriage Unveiled

Tonto Dikeh is one controversial actress in the Nollywood scene. From being involved in sagas with various artiste, the savvy actress never fails to deliver in any movie as she brings her drama and action into any role she portrays.

Early Life

Tonto Dikeh-Churchil was born on the 9th of June 1985. She comes from Rivers State (the Ikwerre tribe). Tonto Dikeh is from a family of seven.
After her primary and secondary school education, Tonto studied Petro-Chemical Engineering at the  Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.

Acting Career

In 2005, she competed against other contestants on a reality TV show called The Next Movie Star; were she emerged as the first runner up. Dikeh’s appearance on the show shot her into limelight and her start in the Nigerian movie industry came soon after.
Tonto had a huge boom in her career after her second movie Holy Cross as more movie directors and producers were willing to cast her, and she has appeared in scores of movies since.
Her role in the movie Dirty Secret however generated controversy amongst Nigerians, because of the nude scenes it contains. And while some criticize her role of being uncultured and un-African, others say that she was merely being professional.

Musical Career

Tonto Churchill has tried her hands at music after  she had once featured in a music video owned by Amaco investments where she and Patience Ozokwor were called to mime the song. She made her debut by releasing singles ‘Hi’ and ‘Itz Ova’ feat Snypa. While many lauded her effort, the songs were trailed by controversy as critics especially questioned her vocal ability.
Nevertheless the songs enjoyed steady airplay and massive downloads. Dikeh proved she was no quitter with the release of a new single ‘Crazically fit’ featuring Terry G, who was also the producer, then Jeje and then some more. On 13 June 2014, Pop star D’banj, unveiled Dikeh under the artistes with his record label DB Records’ LEE family.
 

Scandals and Controversies

Tonto was known in Nollywood as a chain smoker and had started smoking since the age of 14 but she testified that she stopped smoking after prayers with Pastor T.B. Joshua via his Christian television station Emmanuel TV. The savvy actress was also very controversial with her outlandish piece of clothings and nude movies.
She was also embroiled in a bitter feud with ex bff celebrity stylist, Toyin Lawani. The whole issue boiled down to Tonto alleging Toyin stabbed her in the back by having a secret affair with a certain shipping magnate and Sifax boss Taiwo Afolabi who she introduced her friend Toyin to in order to help her out in her business line.
Tonto in order to get back at Toyin began getting closer to one of Toyin’s staff Swanky Jerry Ogbodo who’s now Tonto’s wardrobe consultant. She disowned shopping with Tiannhstyling owned by Toyin and was giving credit to all outfit styled on her by Toyin Lawani to Jerry.

Marriage

Tonto Dikeh recently got married to Oladunni Obasanjo Churchill. He is a nephew to Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo which means Tonto is now an in-law to the former president
